Delete your Sofra account

You can delete your account and everything in it from the Sofra app. If you no longer have the app, email us and we'll delete it for you.

In the app

Open Sofra and go to the Profile tab.
Scroll down to Account and tap Delete Account.
Tap Delete to confirm.

Your account is deleted straight away, and the app signs you out. It can't be undone. To keep a copy of your recipes, tap Export My Data in the same Account section first.

Without the app

Email privacy@cookwithsofra.com with the subject “Delete my account”. Send it from the email address you use to sign in to Sofra, so we know the request is yours.

We'll delete your account and everything listed below within 30 days, and reply to tell you when it's done.

If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, your account uses an Apple relay address. Say so in your email and we'll help you find the account.

Cancel Premium first

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Premium subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or it will keep renewing.

What we delete

Your account: your name, email address, sign-in details and settings, such as dietary restrictions and measurement units.
Every recipe you saved, with all its versions, and any photos you added to them.
Your pantry, shopping list and collections.
Your import history.
Your subscription record at RevenueCat, the service that tells the app whether you have Premium.
The sign-ins and notification settings for your devices.

What we keep

Pending deletion requests, until cleanup finishes: Your account is removed immediately. If photo storage or our subscription service is temporarily unavailable, we keep only the account identifier and photo references needed to retry deletion. This cleanup record is removed when those deletions finish.
Database backups, for up to 5 days: The database is backed up once a day, and each encrypted backup is deleted after 5 days. Copies made before you deleted your account go with them.
AI usage records, without your name on them: For each AI request your account made, we keep which feature it was for, how much text it processed and what it cost. The link to your account is removed, so these records no longer identify you. We keep them for our cost accounting.
Messages you sent us, for 24 months: If you wrote to us through the form on our website, including to ask us to see, correct or delete your data, we keep a record of that message for 24 months after we received it, so we can show we received it and dealt with it. Then the record is deleted.
Purchase records at Apple and Google: Apple and Google keep their own records of subscription payments under their own privacy policies. Deleting your Sofra account does not change those.

Joined the waitlist before launch? That list is separate from your account. Email us and we'll take your address off it.
